Job-training programs, workforce organizations, apprenticeships, second-chance employers, and reentry programs can help returning individuals identify their skills, prepare for interviews, earn new credentials, and connect with employers that are willing to consider qualified applicants with justice-system involvements.
Tips
Practice how you will discuss your background briefly and professionally if an
employer asks, focusing on what you have learned, the steps you have taken since then, and
what you can contribute now.
Consider training, apprenticeships, or certifications that can lead to a career rather than only an
immediate job. Most importantly, do not allow one rejection to end your search – finding the
right employer can take time, and every application, interview, new skill, and connection
moves you closer to the next opportunity.
